Drupal provides the modern WCM capabilities to build, operate and optimize sites and experiences across any channel, device, personalization strategy and more. Drupal allows you to tap into the global power of an open source community, yet build exactly what your organization and brand requires to engage and convert customers and prospects.

Acquia and Drupal

Dries Buytaert created the first Drupal content management framework while finishing his master’s degree in 2000. As he was working toward his doctorate while also leading the open source Drupal project, he began to envision a company devoted to the success of Drupal and to supporting its growing community.

To “take Drupal full-time,” Buytaert and Jay Batson founded Acquia in 2007 to provide infrastructure, support and services to enterprise organizations using Drupal, to help Drupal scale, to promote open source software, to make Drupal easier, to spur greater adoption, and to empower a thriving network of Drupalists around the world.

Acquia initially offered managed cloud hosting and fine-tuned services for Drupal, and has now grown to provide a fully loaded digital experience platform with Drupal at its core.

Acquia brings the same pioneering spirit of Drupal to providing the world’s most ambitious brands with technology that allows them to embrace innovation and create customer moments that matter.

If you’ve been reading about new -- and promised -- easy-to-use page builders, you many not be aware that the Drupal community has been working on a super ambitious visual design tool, Layout Builder, that will be included in the next version of Drupal, Drupal 8.7, scheduled to be released this Spring, 2019. The Layout Initiative, under development for more than a year, is creating a content tool with dramatically more power and flexibility than comparable systems.…

Intro: About Digital Experiences and Signs (Special thanks to Gerardo Gonzalez and Andy Hawks, engineers at CivicActions, who worked on this project -- and this post -- with me.) “Digital Experiences” are the next big thing someone at your company is almost certainly talking about. These include visionary technology that operates based on rich data that is timely and location-based, interactions between other services and products, and perhaps most importantly:…

On the 28th of March 2018 the Drupal Security Team announced SA-CORE-2018-002, a serious Remote Code Execution vulnerability, which came to be known by many as "Drupalgeddon 2". The patches to Drupal core were quite simple and Acquia implemented a platform-level mitigation within a few hours of the announcement. However, it was not trivial to reverse engineer the actual exploit(s), and it took a couple of weeks for credible Proof of Concept exploits to be published.…

Sorry Drupal 7, it’s not you, but it’s time to move on... (to Drupal 8). As developers, we sometimes forget that we live in a tech bubble. In our highly technical world we assume things that not everyone sees. For example, there are still reasons that clients frequently cite to justify staying in an old version of Drupal, in this case Drupal 7, instead of starting a new project straight away in Drupal 8. This is true even when we are talking about starting a brand…
